Proposal for 2007  50th Anniversary Conference in Boston

At the Policy Council Meeting in January, it was agreed that the theme for the 2007 conference would be the 50th anniversary of the field.  A proposal from John Sterman and others  to host the conference in Boston is contained in a separate file.  Discussion of this item is deferred to “Pressing Issues.”

Pre-Proposals for 2008

At this time, we have received pre-proposals to for the 2008 conference from

Pre-proposal information as received is contained in separate files.  A summary will be prepared for presentation at the Policy Council meeting.

Thinking Ahead …

By 2009, it will have been 10 years since the conference was held in Asia, Pacific-Rim. Should we look to solicit additional pre-proposals from that area (see South Korea 2008 pre-proposal)?  Australia might be a good location, but perhaps Hawaii or west coast US a reasonable compromise.

For 2010, Markus Schwaninger and Birgit Kopainsky in Switzerland and Jim Duggan, Galaway, Ireland both intended to submit pre-proposals for 2008, but were unable to do so because facilities are under construction.  They both intend to propose for the next European rotation, which will be either 2010 or 2011 depending on the decision regarding Asia-Pacific.  We also had strong expressions of interest from New Mexico (Len Malczynski) and Mexico (Luis Luna and Jorge Duran) for 2007, which were withdrawn in light of the Boston proposal.
