Subject: Chapter related information after the conference (VP Chapters)
From: Martin Schaffernicht
Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2011 11:30:04 -0400
Dear fellow members of the Policy Council,
as you will remember, during the PC meeting I promised to tell the Egypt, the Hellenic and the Pakistan groups about their situation and that we want to help them make a new start, and to improve our communication specifically with some Chapters. The results of what has been done can now be read in a little report under the title "submission #1021".
I also invite you to look at the Chapter poster photographs I've uploaded at https://picasaweb.google.com/Martin.Schaffernicht/SDSChapterPosters
Best greetings to all of you,

Subject: Motion: Appointment of Program Chairs for the 2013 ICSDS
From: Rogelio Oliva
Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2011 15:41:36 -0500
To the Policy Council & Other Interested parties:
One of the responsibilities of the Society Oversight Program Committee (SPOC) is to identify and nominate Program Chairs for up coming conferences. The SPOC is pleased to nominate Bob Eberlein and Ignacio Martinez-Moyano as program chairs for the 2013 International Conference of the System Dynamics Society.
Here is a brief description on why we believe they are qualified to serve as program chairs.
Bob Eberlein is the Vice President Electronic Presence of the Society and has also acted as President, Vice President Meetings and Secretary over the last 25 years. He was the program chair at the 2003 conference in New York City and the Conference Chair at the 2007 conference in Boston. He is responsible for maintaining the web submission system and helped introduce the idea of Thread Chairs that has been adopted as part of conference program organization.
Ignacio J. Martinez-Moyano is a Computational Social Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory and a Research Fellow with the University of Chicago’s Computation Institute. Ignacio is guest editor (with Edward Anderson) of an upcoming Special Issue of the System Dynamics Review on Terrorism and Insurgency Movements. He has presented 26 papers in the last 11 international conferences of the society, has one paper published in the SDR, was twice runner-up to the D. Deadows Award; and has been a member of the policy council since 2010.
This motion has be created in the PC menu but needs to be seconded. After the usual two weeks of discussion, Policy Council members will cast their votes on the PC Menu. Please send comments or questions to the Policy Council Listserv at
Respectfully,
Rogelio Oliva SPOC (Chair)

Intent: The intent of this nomination is that Rogelio will begin working immediately with Wiley-Blackwell and outgoing Executive Editor Brian Dangerfield to insure a smooth transition, and will formally assume the editorship beginning 1 January 2012, again with Brian involved after that as they deem necessary or useful to insure a smooth transition.
