Subject: Call for Report Discussions and Meeting Timetable

Dear Policy Council Members and Other Interested Parties:

Nearly all of the officer and committee reports have been posted to the Policy Council web site at http://www.systemdynamics.org/cgi-bin/sdsweb.

PC Members are asked to review all the reports and ask clarification questions by July 19th using the PC-Listserve at

We will not devote meeting time in Athens to these reports.  I will allow brief updates and questions if needed.  However, I hope we can accomplish much of this discussion using the email listserve before the meeting.  If issues arise which warrant further discussion, I will add that topic to the agenda for later discussion in the meeting.  A full agenda will be posted by July 16th.

As for the PC meeting schedule, Roberta sends the following:

* The PC Meeting will start at 11 AM Sunday 20th July (following the Administrative Committee Meeting at 9:30 AM -- there will also be a coffee break on Sunday before 11 AM.)

* Lunch break from 1:30 PM to 2:50 PM (A light lunch will be provided to the PC Members so that they can eat quickly and then go to the PhD Colloquium. We will encourage the PC

Members to attend the PhD Colloquium. The PhD Colloquium is breaking for lunch at 12:30 - 1:30.  Therefore, PC members can attend the Colloquium from 9-11 AM, and then from 1:30 to 2:50 PM)

* 3 PM promptly the PC will reconvene until we finish our work.

I look forward to seeing you in Athens.  Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or agenda items.

Sincerely,

Subject: Minutes of Last PC meeting - Motion 100

Hello Jim, Roberta,

I have just seen from the minutes that under Motion 100, the Wiley Sponsored Member Committee was disbanded as Non-operational.  This is somewhat surprising as it was active up until last September when we reviewed the last cycle of applications - for 2008 sponsorship!  There must be some other reason for disbanding this particular committee.

Hi Graham,

When we moved to the tiered membership dues structure the Wiley

sponsored memberships were replaced with a lower charge from Wiley for

the first tier members. Thus Wiley Sponsored memberships are effectively

self selected when people join the Society.

That is the reason the committee was dissolved.

If the committee sent a 2008 list to the Central office I am not sure

what would have happened to it. Roberta may know the answer, but she has

now left for the conference.

Dear Jim, Andreas, et al.,

A brief report was submitted via email on June 30th to the VP Meetings with a promise that a more detailed report would be uploaded. It is now available in the PC Section of the Conference Submission System.

We look forward to your feedback and support, particularly with respect to the conference program (p. 2), special K-12 activities (p. 4), and action items (p. 5):

 *

We are seeking proposals for new program threads, particularly dealing with climate change, infrastructure resilience, emergency preparedness, and challenges of terrorism

 *

We need help identifying interest groups within the Society who would like to hold special meetings on the "spillover" day (July 31st)

Finally, we would like your input and help on offering paid tours to regional attractions.

Of course, these are not items that need to be included on the agenda. We'd be happy to receive all suggestions offline in person during the conference or over email/phone, and during the Albuquerque Sessions (Tuesday, 10:30 AM & Wednesday, 8 AM)

Best wishes of a productive and fruitful meeting!

The Albuquerque Conference Planning Team

Hi, Jen here at the central office.  We have 7 Wiley Sponsored members in 2008 but they were all selected and their memberships begun in 2007.  We have no record of any new two-year sponsorships beginning in 2008. Graham, if you have names I can check to see if they went ahead and took advantage of the $15 rate or not.
