Abstract for: Make the Translation from BPMN to SD Operable

More explicitly combining Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and system dynamics (SD) has the potential to better model and analyze complex business processes. Based on Proper et al. (2023), we will take a step-forward to demonstrate how to make the translation from BPMN to SD operable, i.e. from the mapping logic (Proper et al., 2023) to the operational SD model in this paper. Based on the mapping logic from Proper et al. (2023), we apply the recursive approach to operate such logic for both the join-tree and the split-tree in SD. Although we follow the mapping logic of Proper et al. (2023), especially the recursive approach, there are still differences on detailed handlings. We would like to receive feedback, comments, and suggestions on whether our attempt is accurate and most efficient. In addition, we would like to discuss whether we can find a better way to make the mapping logic and translation (to operational SD model) more in line with each other.
