Abstract for: Complementing System Dynamics Instruction with AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance System Dynamics (SD) teaching and learning while preserving its core focus on systems thinking and model transparency. Designed for SD educators, this workshop offers practical strategies for integrating AI into curricula, fostering deeper learning and reflection, and preparing students for a future where dynamic modeling and AI literacy are both essential. Opportunities exist to reduce learning barriers while improving both modeling productivity and depth of understanding. Using hands-on activities in Stella Architect (that also work in Stella Online), we will use AI at different stages of the modeling process. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with techniques, examples, and classroom‑ready practices that make SD more accessible, engaging, and effective in an AI‑augmented educational setting.
