Abstract for: En-ROADS Climate Workshop and Training - Exploring the New Structures for Carbon Capture and Storage, Health Impacts Maps, Carb
Workshop with the global climate-energy model En-ROADS, co-developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan, for policymakers, corporate decision-makers, and educators with a specific focus on the newly introduced model structure on carbon capture and storage and methane, agriculture, and hydrogen and other forms of energy storage and impacts on health, nature, biodiversity, and extreme weather. The climate and energy systems are tightly coupled and driven by multiple feedback processes, accumulations, time delays, and non-linearities. However, research shows poor understanding of these processes is widespread, even among highly educated people with technical backgrounds. Climate Interactive and the MIT Climate Pathways Project (a collaborative effort of the MIT Climate Policy Center, MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative , and Climate Interactive) respond by offering the interactive “En-ROADS Workshop”. The engagement helps a wide range of people explore and test policy and investment scenarios that allow them to reach their climate goals. Special focus of this workshop lies on exploring climate solutions that affect the newly introduced En-ROADS structure, including carbon capture and storage, agriculture, storage in combination with renewable energy and the new impact graphs. Participants will learn to lead the workshop effectively.
