Abstract for: Building Bridges, Breaking Silos: LEGO® Serious Play as a Catalyst for Collaborative Group Model Building

How can play unlock deeper systemic insights? This workshop invites educators and GMB practitioners to explore LEGO® Serious Play (LSP) as a transformative tool for collaborative group model building on complex problem. Through Game that the participants played together or a collective common challenge faced by participants during GMB, participants will experience how LSP fosters psychological safety, unearths mental models, and accelerates consensus. Attendees will engage in a dynamic simulation: crafting Behavior Over Time graphs, building LEGO® metaphors to visualize causal relationships, and translating these into Causal Loop Diagrams. The session highlights LSP’s unique ability to democratize participation, bridge abstract concepts, and enhance traditional GMB techniques. Whether you teach systems thinking or facilitate complex stakeholder dialogues, this workshop equips you with actionable strategies to integrate play into problem-solving. Leave inspired to break down silos, one brick at a time.
