Abstract for: Patient Empowerment as a Catalyst for Better Health Outcomes: A System Dynamics-AI Augmented Approach.

The work addresses the need for effective patient empowerment in healthcare through digital tools and technologies. It aims to enhance health literacy and engagement, enabling patients to take an active role in managing their health. By developing user-centered applications and supportive online communities, the research seeks to create a more equitable healthcare system that ultimately leads to better health outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. We will apply system dynamics modeling to visualize and analyze the relationships between patient empowerment, digital health tools, and health outcomes. Tools include AI models for data analysis and the design of user-centered mobile applications. Additionally, we will facilitate discussions with healthcare professionals and engage patients through online communities to gather insights, enhance health literacy, and ensure that digital interventions meet diverse patient needs effectively. The work demonstrated that patient empowerment through digital health tools significantly enhances health literacy, engagement, and self-management. It highlighted the importance of user-centered application design and supportive online communities in fostering positive health outcomes. However, it also revealed ongoing challenges, such as disparities in access to technology and the need for continuous patient feedback to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of digital interventions in diverse populations. Practically, the findings emphasize the importance of developing user-centered digital health tools and fostering supportive communities to enhance patient empowerment and engagement. For further research, there is a need to investigate barriers to technology access and tailor interventions for underserved populations. Additionally, ongoing studies should explore the long-term impacts of digital health tools on patient outcomes and identify effective methods for integrating patient feedback into the development process.
