Abstract for: Water Challenge
The Water Challenge seeks to solve the problem that millions of households, in the East African Community, have to access water and resources conducive to living life well. Basically, the Water Challenge is a pilot research and development project conceived to find an evidence-based model to show the best practices in water governance in Morogoro, Tanzania. Water challenge is simulation to address water need of households in Morogoro, Tanzania. The game offers each participant a series of options to choose, decide, and vote innovative interventions, strategy, policy, and project that must be implemented to continuously improve access to drinkable water, resources, and better governance for millions of Tanzanians. Thesis: what would you do if you were the person responsible to bring water to your house? This Water Challenge is expected to allow each participant, playing the game, to consider evidence-based best practices intended to deliver safe drinking water and household uses, which would raise the standard of living of the residents in Morogoro. The implementation of the best practices that the participants decide will ensure access to safe and reliable water, improvement of health, and well-being, as well as opportunities for product development. The use of a mathematical simulation offers the best practice to figure out what works and/or does not work, as well as what to keep and change in Water Governance. Moreover, water modeling can increase stakeholder involvement, leading to formulation of policy to alleviate the water burden on women and girls, who must walk, often many kilometers, to get water, carry it, and bring it to their homes.
