Abstract for: The Impact of a Synergised Emotionally Intelligent Team on Project Success
The modern office environment has evolved significantly, transitioning from open-plan and glass offices to virtual and mobile workspaces, all in pursuit of optimal project delivery and team synergy. However, beyond ergonomic and infrastructural considerations, the success of projects hinges on the emotional intelligence (EI) and personality types of team members. This paper explores the relationship between emotional intelligence, personality traits, and project success using a system dynamics simulator. The study evaluates the impact of nine Enneagram personality types on project outcomes, focusing on factors such as speaking styles, blind spots, and emotional habits. In the initial phase of the project, Emotion and Intellectual personality types dominated, while the second phase was driven by Action and Intellectual types. The final handover phase was influenced by Emotion and Action types, illustrating the dynamic nature of team interactions throughout the project lifecycle. Simulation results reveal that improving communication styles and addressing blind spots significantly enhance project performance. The findings underscore the importance of emotional intelligence in fostering effective teamwork and achieving project goals. This research provides a foundation for further exploration into the integration of emotional intelligence and personality dynamics in project management.
