Abstract for: Quantifying causal relationships by means of multiple domain models for the climate change mitigation and adaptation nexus
The underlying problem addressed in this research is the lack of holistic understanding regarding the complex interdependency between climate change mitigation and adaptation responses, and how optimised pathways can be derived which exploit synergies and minimise trade-offs between different measures. As a step towards better understanding, the specific challenge discussed in this WIP contribution is to identify suitable methods for quantifying the causal relationships within a system dynamics (SD) model capturing these interdependencies between climate risks, adaptation and mitigation measures, and resulting responses in the system. The proposed approach is based on integration of results from 14 detailed domain models for cross-calibration of the SD model.
