Abstract for: Developing a systems thinking perspective for a regulator: A transdisciplinary process
Regulators are acting in highly complex environments. This requires strategic approaches that are holistic and include a focus on motives and values. Using the case of the UK regulator for construction products, this paper describes a transdisciplinary approach to developing a systems perspective with and for the regulator. We report on the approach taken and methods used, including engagement with the regulator, team members and stakeholders, an analysis of interviews, academic and grey literature, and a process of developing and comparing causal loop diagrams.
