Abstract for: Trade-offs between clinical teaching and patient flow efficiency in a veterinary teaching hospital using system dynamics

In this talk, I will present the development of a system dynamics model that evaluates the trade-offs between clinical teaching and patient flow efficiency. Most healthcare models evaluating patient flow do not consider the impact on education goals in the solutions offered to improve it. The goal for this model is to support a smooth patient flow while encouraging an integrated clinical education. Emphasis will be placed on the dynamic modelling phase. The structure of the stock and flow model will be detailed as well as the validation steps, including behaviour testing. An update on the progresses will be given as well as scenario testing plans. The novelty and originality of the model as detailed in the paper will be highlighted throughout the presentation.
