Abstract for: Reflections on 15 Years of Community Based System Dynamics

This paper reflects on the last 15 years of community-based system dynamics (CBSD) as an approach to engaging communities and applying system dynamics to understand and address problems in complex social systems. The paper provides a brief background and history of CBSD, elaborates on several philosophical foundations that impact practice, and then highlights and clarifies distinctions between CBSD and other forms of engaging stakeholders in system dynamics. The paper closes with a list of limitations and future directions for research.
