Abstract for: HHMI BioInteractive Model Builder: An Online Application to Teach Conceptual and Stock & Flow Modeling with Automated Feedback

Model Builder from HHMI BioInteractive is designed to introduce students to building scientific models. This interactive program allows students and teachers to build diagrams of conceptual models or slightly more complex stock and flow models. Teachers can create assignments based on models produced by HHMI BioInteractive or they can create their own models. The interactive includes a self-check mode in which students receive automated feedback and an assessment mode in which students submit their model to their teacher for automated grading. This presentation will discuss how Model Builder has been used with high school students.
