Abstract for: What is the effect of charging infrastructure availability on electric truck adoption? An egg-chicken dynamics problem

While electric trucks offer a promising solution for decarbonizing road freight transportation, the lack of adequate charging infrastructure remains a major challenge. This article presents a system dynamics model that examines the intricate relationship between charging infrastructure availability and the market adoption of heavy electric trucks, highlighting the importance of public and private sector investment in realizing a sustainable future. The study's findings can help policymakers, infrastructure providers, and other stakeholders in planning for the development of heavy electric trucks and infrastructure. The model is demonstrated using Sweden's freight transport system data from 2017 to 2040, showcasing its applicability and potential impact.
