Abstract for: En-ROADS Climate Workshop and Training - Exploring the New Structure on Land, Agriculture, Electrification, and Economic Damage

Workshop with the global climate-energy model En-ROADS for policymakers, corporate decision-makers, and educators with a specific focus on the newly introduced model structure on land, agriculture, and forestry, electrification, and economic damage. The climate and energy systems are tightly coupled and driven by multiple feedback processes, accumulations, time delays, and non-linearities. However, research shows poor understanding of these processes is widespread, even among highly educated people with technical backgrounds. Climate Interactive, MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, UMass Lowell Climate Change Initiative, and ESB Business School respond by offering the interactive “En-ROADS Workshop”. The engagement helps a wide range of people explore and test policy and investment scenarios that allow them to reach their climate goals. Special focus of this workshop lies on exploring climate solutions that affect the newly introduced En-ROADS structure, including bioenergy, plant-based diets, and food waste as well as an improved treatment of electrification. Participants will learn to lead the workshop effectively.
