Abstract for: Navigating through the global cybersecurity landscape: Exploring our ability to mitigate future cyber threats

The world’s increasing interconnectedness and dependence on technology have led to cybersecurity becoming a critical factor for the functioning of society. However, navigating through the complex landscape of cybersecurity is a difficult task, as factors such as further digitalization of society, faster adversarial evolution, increasing cybersecurity workforce shortage, and wider societal impact of materialized cyber threats challenge our ability to globally secure society from future cyber threats. Therefore, our exploratory approach provides an initial simplified representation of this landscape by performing policy analysis and offering important counterintuitive recommendations to strengthen future security posture. The proposed initial model is a solid basis for the exploration of other essential aspects of cybersecurity in future studies.
