Abstract for: How To Reduce Inequality Using System Dynamics
System Dynamics can help leaders gain a deeper perspective on complex challenges and how to address them. However, system dynamics models are programmed by modelers, which may include their assumptions, beliefs, and biases. Though models can be used to reduce inequalities in society, the method can be used to exacerbate them as well. This presentation shares a perspective on inclusive methods to reduce modeler bias and ensure that system dynamics fosters equity for people who are most marginalized. Additionally, this presentation provides an overview of how to include diverse voices, from model conceptualization, formulation, testing, to intervention design.
