Abstract for: Simulation Analysis of Evidence Based Interventions to Reduce Community Opioid Overdose and Fatality
As part of the New York State HEALing Communities Study (NYS HCS) to address the opioid crisis, we have simulated and calibrated a system dynamics model towards aggregate population data trends at the county-level in NYS. The SD model is disseminated via a web-based user interface for NYS HCS community coalitions to generate simulated outcome trends for user-specified county-level interventions. This tool allows coalitions and collaborating partners to define and test their own, high-priority evidence-based interventions that can foster reach and engagement of persons who are susceptible, at risk or living with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) through Opioid Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution (OEND), Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), and Safer Prescribing (SP).
