Abstract for: Integrated Avenues to Systems Change
Systems change is a dynamic process that requires collaboration, innovation, and evidence from a variety of stakeholders over a significant period. While system dynamics help us to identify leverage points through uncovering patterns and structures that shape events, the discipline lacks clear guidance for the implementation of change-making efforts. To ensure that our stakeholders have the tools and mechanisms to implement change, the Dartington Service Design Lab utilises an interdisciplinary approach—integrating aspects of System Dynamics, Service Design, and Evaluation. This approach employs the creativity of service designers and systems thinkers to reimagine the ways in which traditional system dynamics tools like group model building and causal loop diagrams (CLDs) can serve organisations and practitioners looking to create change.
