Abstract for: Eliminating fossil fuel boilers in Poland: System dynamics model for interdisciplinary scenario development and analyses
The project deploys System Dynamics and Group Model Building (GMB) to address the issue of severe air pollution in cities in Poland. The main objective of our research is twofold: to identify the factors and mechanisms that are key for the elimination of fossil-fuel boilers (FFBs) in Poland and to provide a system understanding of the underlying causal relationships and their implications to facilitate eradication of FFBs. The contribution reports on the very first versions of the model developed following a remote GMB workshop attended by 14 experts representing the project partner institutions that specialise in renewable energy systems technologies and business implementations, air pollution and social change. During the conference we intend to present and discuss the first version of the simulation model, including potential policies for addressing the problem along the most viable scenarios.
