Abstract for: Introduction to Object-Oriented Modeling using Pre-Built Components

Object-orientation promises better support for collaboration, documentation, testing, and maintenance of larger models. Even very large models can be made to fit a single page and the clear distinction between material and information flows helps to make models be reusable and replaceable upon mouse click. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the free Business Simulation Library for Modelica and Wolfram System Modeler to start a modeling project from scratch. We will start with a simple model and expand it to create larger models in a smooth workflow, that is documented on the fly. You will experience the benefits of building dynamic models like a LEGO model with very little need for textual programming and equation writing.
