Abstract for: Opportunities of a Low Carbon Level Electricity Generation in Remote Arctic Communities

The problem this research elaborates on is the cost burden created by the use of diesel to provide electricity in remote Arctic communities. A solution to lower the cost burden can be the integration of renewables into the energy mix. In particular, it will be discussed how renewables can change electricity prices and how local businesses are linked to the energy sector. The intersection of businesses and energy can create new opportunities for remote communities, which could lead to more sustainable development.
