Abstract for: From Problem Oriented to System Oriented Modelling

The workshop will focus on the starting phase of modelling in which different stakeholders are connected to grasp the big picture i.e. the system and its boundaries, its objectives, its stakes and its structure and external influences. We developed a so called Canvas for this. A structured approach to get in a relatively short time a big picture (common understanding) of the system together with important stakeholders involved. In this workshop the participants get an introduction to this system oriented approach. Also they will get a first hands-on experience by developing a Canvas. This will be done in sub-groups and in the workshop we will reflect in interaction with each other on these subgroup results. Together with the participants we also will reflect on this system oriented approach so the participant scan gather learnings for their own SD-modelling practices.
