Abstract for: Why the restrictions imposed by the government due to the COVID-19 pandemic did not work properly in Peru?

Although Peru had an early reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing a strict lockdown policy, the health, economic and social results have not been as expected. That is why this work based on System Dynamics focuses on identifying the reasons why these results were obtained. Using a low-order dynamic model and based on local and international official information, the variables associated with the impact of COVID-19 are represented, taking into account characteristics of Peru, such as informality, loss of employment due to restrictions, GDP evolution, among others, which allow, explain why the lockdown could not reverse the number of infections in Peru.
