Abstract for: Tourism Industry during a Pandemic

The pandemic COVID-19 has severely impacted the world economy, devastating the tourism industry globally. However, the most exhausted are the local economies that rely on the tourism industry. This paper estimates the tourism industry's short-run economic impact on tourist destinations in Japan. The analysis highlighted monthly effects both at the regional economy and at the occupation, the input-output analysis with tourism satellite accounts in the system dynamics model. The simulation explained that the pandemic had been damaging the tourism industry during the busy summer months. The findings of this study are valuable both to local government as well as to business operators.
