Abstract for: Hybrid Dynamic Models for COVID-19 Strategic and Operational Decision Making
This presentation describes how advanced simulation methods are being used to stop the spread of COVID-19. This research features hybrid models containing multiply stratified stock-flow model structures along with elements of agent-based modeling (ABM) and discrete event simulation (DES) for capacity assessments and rapid response policy examination. Use of ABM and DES enables detailed intervention assessment with particular focus on at risk-populations. Particle filtered stratified stock-flow models provide insight for day-to-day reporting, assessment of the epidemiology, triggering what-if evaluations that account for the latest knowledge of the COVID-19 outbreak. All of this is informed by extensive understanding and data from across the health system and beyond, including day-to-day data streams.
