Abstract for: System Dynamics modeling for grid-interconnected business model for rural electrification in India

Despite many prevalent policies for electrification of villages in India, it was declared 100% electrified only in April 2018. Despite complete grid connectivity, large majority of households, especially in rural and remote areas lack access to reliable and affordable electricity. Two business models have been developed to solve this problem. For analysis, the issue of rural electrification has been studied as a ‘wicked problem’, where there has been literature on using system dynamics and scenario analysis. This paper would be focusing on applying system dynamics modeling for one of the business models of implementing grid-connected mini-grids to provide reliable electricity in rural and remote areas of India.
