Abstract for: System Dynamics Models to Guide Operations Management and Public Policy Research
Although there is broad overlap between the research traditionally done in the System Dynamics (SD) and Operations Management (OM) communities, much of this work has remained in separate silos. This paper surveys the literature and develops a framework for integration of System Dynamics, Operations Management, and Public Policy. We follow a structured review of extant literature, using KJ clustering methods to present work done at the intersection of all three fields, and to provide evidence that SD work in fact can encompass the union of all three. We also suggest other areas that could benefit from SD policy models, and articulate a potential roadmap for future research in SD.
