Abstract for: Mapping Interactions Between Food Security and Poverty
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) present some of the greatest challenges in our modern world for the human species to live in a well-balanced relationship with itself and amazing planet Earth. Food security and poverty are the two challenges at the top of the list. Besides being wicked problems, there is evidence both problems are related. Yet, studies often show correlational data only, and not causality. We use system dynamics to systematically map interactions in the literature and develop a causal loop diagram on the current understanding of the subject. We expect to provide a list of leverage points that will inform policymakers and map out areas that need further investigation to further complete our understanding of the relationships between food security and poverty.
