Abstract for: Social Capital of Diversity Groups as Driver of Social Equality in the European Union

Since its formation, the European Union had a strong inclination towards promoting social equality for all its citizens. However, diversity groups like women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and LGBT+ people, which are more susceptible to inequalities- need accurate and public information to measure their social capital, which is needed to track how good they are doing in improving their level of equality. In order to understand and evaluate the role of social capital in supporting social equality this research develops a measurement for levels of social capital in each of these groups and tests policies to increase equality.
