Abstract for:SIADH-ILE: A Simulation-based Learning Tool for Healthcare Management

Managing healthcare systems is a complex, dynamic task. To better educate and train people for such tasks the development and use of modeling and simulation-based solutions is ever on the rise. In this study, we present the development, application, and use of a system dynamics-based interactive learning environment, SIADH-ILE in the context of HIV/AIDS situations in Canada.  Our results based on our SIADH-ILE experimental study indicate that a simultaneous approach (instead of an isolated program on treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS and related diseases) is the way forward. Also, users of SIADH-ILE found it a useful tool in enhancing their understanding of the dynamics of HIV/AIDS.
