Abstract for:Dynamic project management model based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK 6) mindset and vocabulary

System Dynamics (SD) is a useful tool for improving traditional project management performance, however existing barriers prevent further integration between the two of them. A such barrier is the communication one, hence the main goal of this article is to present a holistic dynamic project management model, integrating the mental models and vocabulary from traditional project management into the SD approach, investigating if this could lead to a better acceptance of this model by project management professionals. Research was carried out based on the Luna-Reyes & Andersen (2003) proposal, in four steps. The newly developed dynamic model did improve the understanding of SD by project managers, as we could conclude by analyzing the answers from our interviewees. In addition, a strong interest in using SD as a project management simulation tool has been demonstrated by these same interviewees.
