Abstract for:A Conceptual Framework for Performance Assessment of Green Infrastructure

Green infrastructure (GI) is an innovative approach in urban stormwater management, and unlike the conventional practice, it treats stormwater runoff at the source through natural processes such as infiltration. Green infrastructure can also bring multiple benefits to the communities in social, economic, and environmental aspects. However, the implementation of GI in the U.S. is still hindered by insufficient financial support due to the lack of reliable performance data. The proposed conceptual framework was developed in an aim of standardizing the performance assessment processes for GI practice so that it can be used to compare horizontally with similar projects, which will be significantly beneficial to the major decision-makers in GI adoption.
