Abstract for:Graph-Based Similarity Metrics for Comparing Simulations and Causal Loop Diagrams

This article introduces tools for quantitatively measuring the similarity of two graphs that define a causal simulation. We define a process for capturing a simulation’s ground truth, which represents the causal structure of the simulation. We provide examples of generating simulation ground truth diagrams, and an example of applying the similarity metrics to a pair of those diagrams. We discuss the utility of the similarity metrics for comparing conceptual models to each other, comparing simulations to each other, and comparing conceptual models to their simulation implementations.
