Abstract for:Tourism, Transport, and Land use: A Dynamic Impact Assessment for Kaohsiung’s Asia New Bay Area
In this study we aim at developing a simulation for the interactions between tourism and land use transition in a rapidly developing urban area called Kaohsiung’s Asia New Bay Area. A causal loop system was established for planning decision making and analysis by using Vensim. We depict the quantitative inter-relationship between tourism and land use by using relevant socio-economic variables. To visualize the process of system dynamics function, we apply GIS-based tourism and land transit method to identify the appropriate raster resolution for simulation setting. Next, we formulate a set of tourism attraction maps to interpret the tourists’ behaviors using Fuzzy Logic in a GIS environment. Finally, we establish an agent-based model of tourists by the application of Netlogo simulator and adopt cellular automaton model to formulate the dynamics of land use transition process. At the end, our simulation results suggest that the development status of flagship facilities are significant for the tourism in future. On the other hand, the number of tourists will grow continually since 2016, which will increase even rapidly after the problem of road traffic congestion is relieved.
