Abstract for:The growth spiral of rooftop solar PVs: where and when?
Electricity markets are changing toward increases in renewable sources. This technology transformation, as any other, brings opportunities and challenges to the industry. In electricity, the technology transformation is a complex process that impacts different stakeholders in many dimensions. Using system dynamics, this paper investigates the extent and the speed of technology transformation as well as how this affects the stakeholders involved in terms of prices and services. The analysis includes the comparison of how the technology transformation occurs in the electricity sector and its consequences for stakeholders in United Kingdom, Colombia and Brazil, three countries differentiated by their current conditions and potential of renewables in electricity generation. Results indicate that the same dynamic hypothesis applies for these diverse countries despite their differences.
