Abstract for: Exploring the Dynamics of Food Sharing Systems With Participatory System Dynamics Modeling – The Re-Food Case
Food consumption has significant social, environmental and economic impacts, with food waste being a critical issue for the sustainability of food systems and the communities that depend on them. This project examines one collaborative food consumption system developed in a European city to share and redistribute unsold food as a way to prevent food waste. A participatory system dynamics modelling approach was developed to explore the dynamics and key feedback loops governing the food sharing system and support analysis of key leverage points to promote sustainability of the scheme. This poster describes the process of developing the model as well as the model and analysis.
