Abstract for: Art of War: Modeling Combat Simulators in System Dynamics
An initial effort to create a high-fidelity combat simulator for use in system dynamics models is attempted by combining an existing US Army Situational Force Scoring (SFS) simulator with a geospatial subsystem. These are combined in a robust simulation model of ISIS’s performance in Iraq and Syria that includes a Strategic Architecture of ISIS and a World Model of the environment they operate in. The baseline performance of ISIS is reasonably replicated and then compared against detail intervention policy showing the utility of a high-fidelity simulator.
