Abstract for: Energy SIG Poster Presentation, Roundtable and Annual Meeting

The Energy Special Interest Group brings together system dynamics practitioners within the energy field. This year’s Energy SIG meeting and Energy roundtable discussion are combined into a single event with two parts: In the annual SIG meeting we will discuss practical issues and the future role of the SIG. In the roundtable discussion, we will focus on system dynamics modeling applied to energy issues, and feature a discussion / workshop about the current state of the field of energy economics. We will start with a few brief, prepared introductions to the topic from a few participants and then finish with an open discussion. The poster will include an overview of the SIG’s activities and member contributions over the last year. In 2011/2012, the Energy SIG has established an online discussion forum, which has grown to more than a hundred members. An academic seminar has been arranged in Colombia, and there have been invitations for various forms of collaboration, including the production of a book, co- authoring of book chapters, and for writing a special issue of a journal. The SIG has also introduced new members into the community, provided information about system dynamics to those interested and spread the word about job opportunities.
