Abstract for: Seeing Time: Using System Dynamics to Inform Public Health Choices
System dynamics offer great promise in supporting public health decisions, but it remains largely underutilized and underappreciated by the public health community. Using a range of examples, this talk will describe the successful use of system dynamics to help public health policy makers “see time” and better manage complexity, at least in some situations. Through the examples, we will identify potential barriers to the greater use of system dynamics to improve public health and explore opportunities to help system dynamics tools live up to their potential in this domain.
