This workshop will be useful for people with an interest in understanding the behavior of dynamic systems based on their feedback structure. Recent studies done to contrast the outcome of alternative techniques for identifying loop dominance conclude that a significant overlap may exist in the outcome of various approaches to model analysis. The purpose of the workshop is to explore the similarities and differences among various methods including, but not limited to, pathway participation metrics and eigenvalue analysis. Methods of analysis will be explored in three dimensions: 1) metrics used to characterize structure and behavior, 2) selection of dominant structure and, 3) interpretation of results. The workshop will provide the opportunity for the participants to share their experience in understanding the connection between dynamic behavior and feedback structure. This workshop will compare the results of analyzing several models by pathway participation metrics (implemented in Digest) with those of eigenvalue analysis and conclude s that the pathway participation metrics and eigenvalue elasticities may converge in the long run behavior of linear systems.
