The Brazilian Chapter of the System Dynamic Society, named Sociedade Brasileira de Dinâmica de Sistemas, SBDS, was founded on February 13, 2003 and accepted SDS Brazilian Chapter (SDS-BC) in July of 2003. Jacques Pierre Ehrlich (from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo) led efforts to establish the organization and petition SDS membership. The Brazilian Chapter currently has approximately 64 members from throughout Brazil and 2 from the United States. On April 2005 SBDS’s second Board of Directors was elected. The new President and Brazilian Chapter Representative is Niraldo J. Nascimento (AIEC/UPIS). Other members include Leonardo Reis (Aennova Decisionware) and Aldo Zagonel (Sandia Laboratories). The main focus of the new board has been to disseminate systems dynamics methodology to companies, academia and government as well as link with other associations in related fields to exchange ideas and develop research projects. On July 17th we are launching a call for papers via internet for the 1st Brazilian Business Dynamics International Congress to be held in Brasilia, October, 19-21, 2006. The event will use web conferencing tools to facilitate access and participation/presentation from people from all over the world. We anticipate 200 on-site attendees from corporate, academic and government sectors, and around 300 participants over the Internet.
