The Australasian Chapter has about 45 members from across the region. This is up from 33 members in 2001. In terms of geographical spread, we have 28 members in Australia, 9 in New Zealand, 2 in Singapore, and 1 member in Indonesia. In February, the chapter held a one-day Research Colloquium in Sydney that attracted 25 attendees from all over Australia and even some from New Zealand. An evening get-together for attendees was held at a terrace bar next to the Opera House overlooking Sydney Harbour. In April, John Morecroft gave two research seminars that were attended by several chapter members. The opportunity to experience the Australian surf was a key attraction for John’s visit to Sydney, and the waves did not disappoint him. The Chapter is now sharing space on the HPSIG Wikipedia. Updates about chapter activities, discussion threads, seminars, conference announcements, and PhD and PostDoc opportunities are now being posted on the Wiki. The Accelerated Learning Lab was launched in April at the AGSM (Sydney) focusing on accelerating the development of CEO-capable managers. Simulation microworlds, generic structures, and SD instruction all play prominent roles in the research agenda. The Lab’s seminar series is open to all chapter members.
