The Economics Chapter was formed during the 2003 System Dynamics Conference. The objectives of the Chapter have been: (i) to identify, extend and unify knowledge contributing to the understanding and betterment of economic systems through the use of System Dynamics; (ii) to promote the development of the fields of Economics and System Dynamics; (iii) to encourage and develop educational programs related to the behavior of economic systems. Current membership is over 60 people. The chapter maintains a website and a mailing list. The chapter has been organizing the economics thread during annual meetings of the System Dynamics Society. In 2006, for the first time, members of the chapter presented their work during the annual meeting of the Association for Institutional Thought (AFIT).
