The Environmental SIG of the SDS has a wide scope, integrating the following interests: environmental policy and planning, ecology, environmental resources, sustainability, interaction of humans with the natural environment, environmental impact of urban sprawl, energetics, hierarchical organization of the environment, resource consumption patterns, population and community dynamics, ecological risk assessment (more specific to the dynamics of the biota), environmental risk assessment (more specific to the abiotic environment), and other similar areas. In the 2006 poster session, the theme impact assessment is presented with the poster “Contributions of CLD and SFD to the Impact Assessment Process”. Desired outcomes of the poster session are interaction among the members of the Environmental SIG, interaction with other SIG and Chapter members and leaders (e.g. Economics, Health), and collaborations for further work.
