Abstract for:The Drivers and Barriers of Renewable Energy Technology Adoption in the Hotel Sector: Queensland, Australia

This work-in progress paper describes the causal loop diagram (CLD) of the drivers and barriers of renewable energy technology (RET) adoption in the hotel sector in Queensland, Australia. The hotel sector is the focus of this research because it ranks the largest electricity consumer among commercial buildings on average. Despite the financial benefits of RET from energy cost reduction, an increasing tourist demand for green hotel, and an increasing grid electricity price, the RET adoption rate in hotels is low. This research argues that understanding what drives and hinders the hotel sector from adopting RET may contribute to a higher adoption.
