Abstract for:A System Dynamics Approach for the Design of Alternative Jet Fuel and Co-Products Supply Chains in the Pacific Northwest

Currently available for supply chain designs for alternative jet fuel production rely solely on stand alone, production technologies. In the Pacific Northwest (PNW) region of the United States, regional supply chains designs for the production of alternative jet fuels with co-products including uncertainties do not exist. This project will utilize system dynamics and allow for the integration of various variables that change over time (supply chain uncertainties) and the impact of their feedback loops on jet fuel production with co-product processes in the PNW. The information provided by the models developed in the project will support strategic decisions such as the design and optimization of the supply chain network, the selection of conversion technologies, and policies that allow for the production of alternative jet fuel in an economically viable manner.
