Abstract for: Study of reduction measures for abandoned dog population based on a dynamic model of household dogs in Japan

This study established a dynamic model for distribution of household, abandoned and culled dogs. Based on the model, three scenarios, (1) Revision of the registration system, (2) Introduction of a dog tax and (3) Establishment of large-scale shelters, were set to analyze these dogs dynamically. In these calculation, increasing the registration in 2nd scenario effects to reduce the culled dogs. Furthermore, although overproduction arise temporarily when the introduction of the dog tax was gone ahead to, over the long term, it will be able to be a policy to reduce it in the future.
